Alien planets, space pirates named Handa Bandita, and an epic battle for galactic supremacy. EtherGalaxies is a game where players invade and conquer planets, and fight space pirates for loot, rewards, and sweet sweet space glory. They are currently hosting a planet giveaway and heading towards a release around end of April. We had a chance to catch up with the team behind EtherGalaxies to learn more about them and their innovative Crypto Game.
Can you tell me a bit of background about your team? What inspired you to get into blockchain / crypto games?
Our team consists of international members that are passionate and enthusiastic about blockchain and cryptogames. Based in France, China and the United Kingdom, we are all passionate developers and are committed to building one of the best Dapps on the market.
Tell me about how the vision for EtherGalaxies came about. What inspired you to make a game like this?
All of us were very familiar with CryptoCelebrities but felt like the game had no real story apart from making money from each other. We wanted it to be more fun, exciting and engaging. That is why we introduced the villain “Handa Bandita” and the huge bounty gathered from every transaction. Invading planets and catching bad aliens, what more do you need!?
What is the basic gameplay, story, and marketplace of EtherGalaxies? How does the game work?
EtherGalaxies is a blockchain-based virtual game where you invade the planets in player owned galaxies. The game lets the users buy/sell planets through the act of invasions using blockchain technology. Each planet increases in value every time time it has been invaded and can only be owned by one user at a time. The villain called “Handa Bandita” takes a small amount of each transaction. This is then added to his vast ETH bounty for when he is finally captured by one of the lucky users. After the capture, “Handa Bandita” escapes his prison cell and is back out in EtherGalaxies doing it all over again!
After a user has invaded a planet they have the option to rename the planet and give it a description for all other users to see. There are thousands of different planets, each with their own type, race and population. Experienced space invaders can also create their own galaxy with their own galaxy name, villain name and can choose any planets they wish to have. These galaxy owners will be rewarded with 30% of the revenue generated by each invasion taken place in their galaxy.
What are some of the barriers you see ahead for your project and Crypto Games in general?
The main barrier is adoptions, however, crypto is taking over the world so we do have the market on our side. Another barrier is a short lived craze in the cryptoworld: people play and as in every industry they often move on to the next fun idea. In our case, constant development of new and fun feature will bring the retention up and ensure the community shoots to the moon!
What plans do you have for the future for your team and your project? Any announcements coming up?
We are releasing the game in the next few weeks. The first galaxy, “The Ether Way” will be available for invasion.
Any key dates or milestones coming up that you would like to share?
An important date is the end of April, mark it in your calendar and stay tuned!
The thing that I find most interesting about EtherGalaxies is that they’ve managed to weave in tension, suspense, and conflict into their game. This is definitely an evolutionary step forward for the Crypto Games market. Gamers don’t just want to spend Ether, they want to play a game that’s engaging and thrilling.
